For the first time in a long time, I woke up to the Nightmare. The weight heavier in my heart than in my feet as I stood to face my leave. How are you expected to just carry on, as if it didn't hurt this much? It's all so new yet so terribly familiar. The loneliness sets in as it always does when you realize the ones you love are better off anyhow The tears flow, the footing does not. Hesitation increasing with every step, Not knowing when I'll see you again. It sounds like a hurricane, looming desolately over my head, in my head... My breath catches in my throat like a cat's claws... Has it always been this hard to breathe? I turn to you... don't lose it yet... I turn to you and kiss your cheek. When I leave you'll go back to sleep... I walk down the pavement, My heart under my feet. The echoing of my soles in the hall, reverberating in the empty aching of my chest. I open the door to my vehicle. Has it always been this hard to see? I know I haven't, But I feel like I've lost
